Decadal changes in nematode community structure and function across the LTER

Nematode community composition was first examined in the KBS LTER during the spring of 1992 only a few years post establishment. This initial nematode dataset was published by Freckman and Ettema in 1993. Since the early 1990s, no one has quantified nematode community composition across the entire KBS LTER. In the spring of 2021, our group decided to measure nematode community structure using the exact same methods used in the 1993 paper so that we can compare datasets that are approximately 30 years apart. This comparative analysis will allow us to assess how long-term agricultural management impacts nematode community structure and function. Furthermore, we will be able to determine how nematode communities evolve over long time scales.
